It’s with great pride that we remember those who died in the collapse of the Second Narrows Bridge on June 17th, 1958. On the 67th anniversary, Ironworkers Local 97 members and supporters gathered at New Brighton Park in Vancouver. With the bridge in the background, we shared stories and reflected upon the sacrifices of those who were at work that tragic day. Thanks to the last survivor of the catastrophe, Lucien Lessard, for speaking at the event. Additional thanks to all of those who attended, including Minister Jennifer Whiteside, and MLAs Joan Phillip and Susie Chant.
